August 20, 2008 VAFC Accreditation Project On ScheduleGlen Allen, VA – The VAFC Accreditation Project is on schedule with its Beta Test Site Visits for the summer. Three clinics who have volunteered to serve as Beta Test Sites are Lackey Free Family Medicine Clinic, Gloucester Mathews Free Clinic, and American Red Cross Adult Dental Program. Volunteer Executive Directors, Board Members and longtime volunteers are conducting these peer review site visits. The Virtual Notebook has been completed and will be rolled out shortly to members for the uploading of Accreditation Documentation. Thus far, 20 member clinics including the Beta Test Sites have declared their intention to pursue Accreditation in the next two years. The entire Accreditation Project will be rolled out as a finished product in November at our Annual VAFC Conference at the Tides Inn, Irvington, Virginia. Wal-Mart will be providing funding through the VAFC for a special dental project to benefit the Tidewater Virginia Clinics. Through the aid of this grant, Peninsula Clinics can expect to gain approximately 400-600 new dental patients in the upcoming year. Follow up care to these newly acquired patients will also be provided. Involved clinics include Chesapeake Care Free Clinic, Western Tidewater Regional Free Clinic, Beach Free Clinic, and Dr. Richard F. Clark H.E.L.P. Free Clinic. Founded in 1993, the VAFC is the oldest Free Clinic association in the U.S. Its mission is to support, strengthen, and advocate for Free Clinics to deliver quality health care services to Virginia’s low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents. More information about the VAFC and Virginia’s Free Clinics is available at www.vafreeclinics.org. |
